The European Green Deal is at the heart of the region’s growth strategy to tackle climate change. It encapsulates the EU’s pledge to become carbon neutral by 2050 and provides an action plan to boost the efficient use of resources by moving to a clean, circular economy and at the same time, restore biodiversity and cut pollution.

The EU supports the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) conservation efforts through the Biodiversity Conservation and Management of Protected Areas in the ASEAN (BCAMP) project. The ASEAN Green Initiative is one of the projects supported by the European Union.

As a service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work, GIZ is dedicated to shaping a future worth living around the world. The GIZ works with businesses, civil society actors and research institutions around the globe, fostering successful interaction between development policy and other policy fields and areas of activity. The GIZ is currently supporting the ACB in implementing programmes and projects such as the Institutional Strengthening of the Biodiversity Sector in ASEAN (ISB) and the ASEAN Green Initiative.

On behalf of the Federal Government of Germany and the federal states, KfW provides financial support to governments, public enterprises, and commercial banks in developing countries.

The KfW supports the ASEAN Heritage Parks Programme through the ACB Small Grants Programme, an initiative that aims to conserve the biodiversity of select AHPs, while providing livelihood opportunities to local communities within and around the parks.
